Water Strider
They are sometimes called pond skaters or Jesus Bugs because they "walk" on water. The amazing water strider doesn’t just walk on water. It skips across with the grace of an Olympic skater yet acquires the power of a hockey player.
The insect bounces up and down to avoid being submerged by raindrops, and it can pack 15 times its body weight without sinking. Water Striders live on the surfaces of ponds, slow streams and other quiet waters. They often gather in small groups. .
